 • Iliana Maiale was born in Lima, Peru on May 17th 1986. She was born an only child and that is something that has shaped her personality considerably. She was the princess of her family.
• Her parents decided to move to San Diego, California when she was eleven years old. Illy still goes back to Peru to see her extended family frequently though it never is enough. She has yet to get rid of her accent, but also thinks that's apart of her charm. Illy adapted well to the change of environments and was quick to make new friends in their new home.
• While she still lived in Peru her mother put her in a ton of beauty pageants, but when they moved to California pageants were filled with perfect little blonde girls and Illy's accent didn't help. It gave eleven year old Iliana somewhat of a complex, but that quickly went away. The judges may not have liked her look, but boys certainly did after she hit puberty.
• She was cursed by a gypsy in a park during a recent trip to Madrid and blames all of her bad luck on that damn gypsy. She has always been really superstitious her whole life so don't be surprised if you see her throwing spilled salt over her shoulder.
• She is currently doing nothing with her degree in sociology. Instead she works at a hair salon during the day and bartends at a local bar at night. The bar she works at has a coyote ugly feel to it where most of the bartenders are female.
• Ever since she watched the New Orleans season of The Real World, Illy has wanted to be apart of it. She has sent in an application every year since she was old enough to be eligible. She was started to lose hope until she finally got the call from the casting department. It's what she's been waiting for for the past four years.
• Illy is curious to see how she'll react to living with so many people. She isn't used to living with other people besides her parents and has never had to share a room with anyone. She attended college close to home so she hasn't had the dorm experience of living on your own and having a roommate. She is typically easy to get along with, but she tends to get a little rowdy when she drinks too much and likes to have everyone's attention on her, the latter probably stemming from his history in beauty pageants.
• She is leaving her boyfriend of seven months at home to be apart of the show. She'll be gone for as long as they have been together so they both agreed that it wouldn't be smart to expect their relationship to last during the show. She'll still be on the phone with him constantly and whine about how much she misses him, but technically she's allowed to do what she wants. The question is whether or not she'll end up back with him when the experience is over. |
